Mae’r iaith Gymraeg yn rhan o’r hyn sy’n diffinio hunaniaeth Gymreig a Chymru fel cenedl. Hanner can mlynedd ar ôl y Ddeddf Iaith gyntaf, cyhoeddodd Llywodraeth Cymru yn ddiweddar ei huchelgais i weld y nifer o bobl sy’n siarad ac yn defnyddio y Gymraeg yn cynyddu i filiwn erbyn 2050. Mae’r drafodaeth hon yn ystyried y rôl sydd gan y genedl gyfan i’w chwarae i fynd i’r afael â’r her hon.

The Welsh language is part of what defines Welsh identity and Wales as a nation. Fifty years on from the first Welsh Language Act, the Welsh Government recently announced its ambition to see the number of people speaking and using Welsh reach a million by 2050. This discussion considers how the whole nation has a role in fulfilling this challenge.
