The struggle for justice defines human progress and yet justice, whether institutional or personal, often remains elusive. Despite all our freedoms to think of new possibilities, new ways of being, our challenge is to exercise moral imagination to create and recreate a sense of hope for each generation. Professor Mona Siddiqui OBE is Professor of Islamic and Interreligious Studies, Assistant Principal for Religion and Society, and Dean International for the Middle East at the University of Edinburgh. Her areas of research are in classical Islamic jurisprudence and ethics and Christian-Muslim relations. She is well known as a public intellectual on issues of faith and ethics in society and a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s 'Thought for the Day'.
